11-5 and NO PLAYOFFS

As a Patriots Fan I find this totally unacceptable when a 8-8 team is in from the NFC who we JUST TOTALLY DESTORYED/EMBARRASED/DEMORALIZED last week, and a 8-8 team from the AFC West that started 4-8 gets in...

KC for the last few years has wanted playoff expansion to 8 teams. I'm not willing to go that far but this is the playoff system I'd propose

6 teams from each conference UNLESS

- A team outside the playoffs has won 3 more games than a team that makes it from either conference, the playoffs shall be expanded in the conference that has the bad team in to include the team from the other conference.

For example this year the playoffs would look like this.

AFC would stay the same (BAL/Mia, IND/SD with Pitt playing best seed remaining, Ten the worst

NFC would be like this

1. Giants 1st round bye

2. Carolina plays #7 Philadelphia

3. Minnesota plays #6 Falcons

4. Arizona plays #5 New England

Highest remaining team hosts 2nd round game with Giants playing lowest seed, and the other team going to the highest Wild Card seed.

This way the conference with the bad teams in the playoffs gets penalized by losing a 1st round bye.

- I wouldn't be opposed to the AFC team having to be the #7 seed, except I find that being horribly unfair to a team that finished 2nd in its conference

- Barring the Pats from a home-game under any situation could also be acceptable modification

The reality is this, if the Yankees went 110-50 in the AL East and didn't make the playoffs, the uproar would be huge and changes would be made...

Its time to make the changes here too.
